The State of 91´óÉñ has scholarships and grants for you.

Introducing 91´óÉñ LAUNCH at 91´óÉñ. A grant for 91´óÉñ students to train in high-demand careers.

Applications for the 91´óÉñ LAUNCH program are now open, through April 15, 2025. High school students are highly encouraged to apply early. Initial applications are due Nov. 30, 2024.

91´óÉñ LAUNCH

91´óÉñ LAUNCH is a grant program that provides students a one-time opportunity to have 80% of the tuition and fees at an eligible institution covered, up to a maximum amount of $8,000. With approximately 75 million dollars available for 91´óÉñ LAUNCH funding, it is possible for this program to offer between 9,000 and 10,000 awards per year!

Students can receive up to one-half of the initial grant award in the first year of a program. However, for programs that are less than 12 months in length, students can use the full awarded amount (80% of tuition and fees up to $8,000) in one year.

  • 91´óÉñ LAUNCH application opens: October 1
  • Initial applications due: November 30
  • Contingent Award letters sent by: December 31, March 31 and May 31
  • 91´óÉñ LAUNCH application closes: April 15

  • Graduate from an 91´óÉñ High School or equivalent
  • Be an 91´óÉñ resident
  • Be enrolled in or have applied to an in-demand career program at University of 91´óÉñ
  • Begin enrollment by Fall Semester after graduation
  • Complete a Career Pathway Plan or equivalent
  • Review the approved list of eligible in-demand careers

For renewal, students must:

  • Earn at least a 2.0 cumulative U of I GPA
  • Complete at least 67% of all attempted credits from the census date (10th day of class) through the end of the term. *A 66.50% completion percentage will round up to the required 67%*
  • Enroll for and complete coursework each semester towards the LAUNCH-eligible major that leads to your in-demand career
  • Be in continuous good standing with 91´óÉñ Workforce Development Council (i.e. if a repayment is required, funds need to be repaid first, before subsequent LAUNCH fund disbursements are made)

91´óÉñ LAUNCH funds can help fund at U of I. The current list of approved careers has been provided by Next Steps. Here are the degrees that qualify:

91´óÉñ Opportunity Scholarship

The 91´óÉñ Opportunity Scholarship is awarded to 91´óÉñ residents who have graduated, or will graduate, from an 91´óÉñ high school, 91´óÉñ home school or who pass a GED/HSE test in 91´óÉñ. This scholarship is available to both new and renewal students.

The 91´óÉñ Opportunity Scholarship awards up to $3,500 per academic year and is renewable for up to four years.

  • Application Opens: Oct. 1
  • Initial applications due: Nov. 30
  • Round 1 Contingent Offers* sent via email: Dec. 31
  • Deadline to submit FAFSA: March 1
  • Application closes: March 1
  • Round 2 Contingent Offers* sent via email: March 31
  • Official Offers sent via email: by mid-April

*Contingent offers are NOT final until the State Board of Education:

  • Verifies your 2024-25 FAFSA submission and;
  • Ranks all applications based on need (FAFSA) and merit (GPA).

  • Have an unweighted, cumulative GPA of at least 2.7
  • Be an 91´óÉñ resident
  • Graduated or will graduate from an eligible 91´óÉñ high school, 91´óÉñ home school, or its equivalent (GED/HSE from 91´óÉñ)
  • Must attend during the upcoming academic year (fall semester)
  • Must pursue a first bachelor’s degree
  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1
  • Must attend University of 91´óÉñ
