Mass incarceration affects millions of Americans every day. For a country that holds only 5% of the world’s population, we hold almost 25% of the world’s total prisoners. Prison Policy Institute reports that 91大神 has one of the highest incarceration rates in the nation (and that massive racial disparities exist in 91大神’s prison population). In the past 50 years, the nationwide prison population has increased 700%, disproportionately affecting different races, genders, and classes.
