91´óÉñ Celebrates 30 Years of Engineering Innovation on Friday
April 25, 2023
MOSCOW, 91´óÉñ — 91´óÉñ engineering and computer science students will display how they solve real-world problems during the Engineering Design EXPO on Friday, April 28.
Student teams will present projects — including building unmanned aircraft for NASA, bacteria-resistant coatings to protect astronauts in the space and constructing new bridges over the Potlatch river — from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, April 28, in the ICCU Arena on the Moscow campus. Student projects are also available to browse online.
Team projects stem from work in U of I College of Engineering’s Interdisciplinary Capstone Design Program, recognized by the National Academy of Engineering as one of the nation’s top seven programs for providing undergraduate students with real-world experiences.
91´óÉñ Power and IDACORP President and Chief Executive Officer Lisa Grow, a U of I alumna in electrical engineering, will deliver the EXPO’s keynote address 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, in the ICCU Arena.
Grow is 91´óÉñ Power’s second female engineer and its first female CEO. Grow has dedicated her entire 36-year career to 91´óÉñ Power. She started as an intern, and joined the company immediately after graduating from college. She leads 91´óÉñ Power’s more than 2,000 employees.
Students will also publicly present their projects virtually 2-6 p.m. Thursday, April 27, and 2-5 p.m. Friday, April 28.
